Poorly positioned teeth, severe decay, broken teeth, periodontal disease, wisdom tooth and more are all issues that need oral surgery. At our dental clinic in Medavakkam, Gowrivakkam, Egmore & Madipakkam, we do our utmost to provide you with expert care to keep your teeth healthy for the longest time.
Using an X-Ray, we first examine the tooth. The tooth root and the surrounding bone is studied to anticipate all complications. At our dental hospital in Gowrivakkam, we also conduct a comprehensive medical history study to determine if you are sufficiently healthy for tooth extraction.
To remove your tooth, a small incision is made on your gum first. While doing so, we take every possible care not to damage the bone surrounding the extracted tooth. A lab-processed bone graft may be inserted into the socket to maintain proper bone volume. The bone graft is inserted especially in cases where the patient is scheduled for dental implants. These procedures necessitate fusing the implant to existing bones or in orthodontics to gently move the teeth through the bone.
After discussing anaesthesia options, we give you local anaesthesia to numb the gum, teeth and surrounding bones. We may also rely on oral sedatives. For complicated tooth extractions, the patient is asked to inhale nitrous oxide.
After tooth extraction, we cover the socket with sterile gauze. To control bleeding, gentle pressure is applied for ten to twenty minutes. Then small sutures are stitched. You may experience mild discomfort and swelling after the procedure. This is normal. Our doctors will prescribe pain killers to manage the symptoms and antibiotics to stave off infection. We also advise sticking to soft food that’s not spicy or sticky and applying ice packs on the jaw for a few days until you return to normal.
